Steve and Karen's wedding

On July 1st, Erika's sister (daugther of Dad's second wife Barbara) Karen Kafka married Steve Daniels, after many years of searching for Mr. Right. At this beautiful and elegant wedding in Long Beach, Erika danced across the expansive ballroom, joining her life-of-the-party, always-dancing Dad whenever he's dancing alone without his favorite dancing partner wife Barbara.

Great-Grandpa Came to Town

In June, we drove to a church parking lot in Orange County to meet with Niel's paternal grandfather, a resident of Chico, CA, who had just arrived back with his missionary group from Mexico where he helped build basic one-room houses for the poor and homeless. We went out to dinner at Islands and came back to witness the staggering popularity of this octogenarian among predominantly teenage members. Grandpa swung Caleb around to show off his great-grandson, as well as his grandson and granddaughter-in-law, to his new friends. Teenagers told Niel, "Your grandpa is SO COOL!" Caleb enjoyed playing with a few of the teenage girls who adored him as well.

Arizona in June

In June, we visited Niel's brother Erik and his family in Gilbert, AZ. Caleb adores his baby cousin Anaiah who is just less than a year younger than Caleb. How we all wish we could live closer together for more frequent visits!
